Federation weekend 2011

For the first time for a while the Federation Weekend was not only blessed with good weather but also with a turnout of over 60 people!
Perhaps this was due to the fact that Bob Howis has taken over the reins of the Federation. Bob has nearly always had good weather and the fact that he "persuaded" a dozen or so people to come all the way from St. Gallen helped just a little to increase the attendance.
For Fribourg it was an event to remember! Although we were only four (shame on the rest of you!) we won two cups in the sports events. Rose-Marie won the ladies' "shooting" cup (actually the competition was horseshoe throwing) and the "team" (Kirsten, Rose-Marie, Steen and Nigel) won the Team "Golf" trophy (in reality the event was a sort of clock croquet!).
The music was good and not too obtrusive, so that the party continued until after one in the morning.
Bob has promised to breathe new life into the Federation, and it certainly looked like it this weekend. There will be a new description of the duties of the Federation and a description of the functions and the added value that comes from membership.
The Federation is targetting 4 events a year: the AGM, the Autumn weekend, the Golf event (also to be hosted by Fribourg in 2012!) and one other event yet to be determined.
Part of the weekend was devoted to a meeting of club representatives which was extremely productive. You can find a report (in German) at the Jungfrau Zeitung's website.
Photos of the weekend are starting to appear and will be in the slideshow below:
