Playreading April 27, 2018

12 members and 1 guest turned up to read the (rather long) script about a recently widowed society lady and her daughter, who she hoped to place in a marriage which would guarantee her a comfortable future. Parts were changed from Act 1 to allow more people to have a say in Act 2. All readers performed extremely well, except for a few instances where scripts appeared to be missing some lines. It was a good exercise in English allowing for some rather outdated expressions from the Jane Austen orginal of Lady Susan kept in by Kathryn Attwood, who adapted the novel for the stage!
