The Organs of the Cathedral St François

Fifteen members and two guests had a fascinating presentation from François Seydoux on the history and unique characteristics of the Cathedral's two active organs. The largest and incredibly complex, designed and built by the Fribourgeois Aloys Mooser in 1824 and the smaller, choir organ, built by the Lucernois Seebald Mandelscheit in 1665.

Mr. Seydoux, who is chief organist at the Cathedral and lecturer at Fribourg University, Department of Music, played pieces of music on both organs to demonstrate their unique capabilities.

After the visit we adjourned to the nearby Restaurant du Gothard to round off the evening.
